Wasted Wednesday: Yazoo Brewery Tour

Posted on

We don’t have a recipe for you this week, but we do have a recap of some wasteful fun this past weekend. As you know, Bryan and I love beer. When we travel we try to visit a local brewery if at all possible. We’ve toured Sam Adams, Abita, local Ghost River, and as of Saturday, Nashville’s Yazoo Brewery.

Although, not the most educational of brewery tours we’ve been on, it was definitely one of the most fun ones. Our tour guide was smashed energetic and friendly.

For $7 you get an hour tour, a Yazoo pint glass, and three glasses of beer along the tour.

Yazoo is a regional brewery who strives to become the brewer of the Southeast. We’ve been enjoying Yazoo for a few years now in Memphis. As of the other day, we have a keg of their Dos Peros tapped at the house. For a darker beer, its a great summer beer. I have high hopes of convincing Bryan to tap their Hefeweizen this summer. It smells of bananas but tastes of cloves. Yum!

Have you been on a brewery tour? What’s your favorite?

So, this certainly wasn’t my favorite, but my most memorable brewery tour has to be the Anheuser Busch brewery in St. Louis. While some of the historic brewing kettles were gorgeous, overall the process they use is so lifeless and mechanical. To be expected, sure. And it stunk to high heaven!!

    • Hi Emily! We’ve missed you!
I went to the Anheuser Busch brewery when I was well under the drinking age. I do remember it being really interesting and really smelly.
Not like whiskey distilleries. Which smell like heaven.
I need to go back to St Louis and check it out again!

    • Emily! My husband and I have been talking about a trip to St. Louis soon. We definitely want to do Schlafly, but maybe we’ll add Anheuser Busch too. – Rachel
