Things we love to hate: Ridiculous Names

Yesterday Allyn and I spent a good deal of time making fun of discussing this guy’s interesting sounding name. It was one of those names that is so fun to say when you are delirious tired. I won’t say it here since it is a real person’s name who I do randomly see out and about. But still… After repeating it endlessly for a while we then decided it sounded like a body part, in a private area.

We don’t just make fun of regular people’s names. Celebrity baby names are even more fun. Apple, Blanket, Michael Rainbow, we could go on and on.

Tell us we aren’t the only ones! And what is your favorite ridiculous name to make fun of?

Things we love: 90s TV

Oh Instant Netflix! How I love thee! I don’t know if it’s sad or amazing that we now don’t even have to wait for a DVD to come in the mail or go to the store to pick one up. Now we can just click a button and pick out whatever we want to watch. It has been months since I’ve looked through my own DVD collection.

Bryan and I have taken to watching TV series on Instant Netflix. We’re show people, or maybe I am. I don’t like to commit to a movie every night. We’re currently in the middle of Mad Men (omg, LOVE IT!), but he works some on the weekends and goes out of town for work, so I’ve started watching a series without him.

I’ve seriously got obsessed with 90s dramas. First it was My So Called Life. I was obsessed. I dreamed about Jordan Catalano for weeks. Just thinking about it is probably going to make me dream about his dreamy blue eyes tonight. Don’t tell Bryan.

I’m currently watching Felicity. Like, I’m currently watch this as I type. I’m really enjoying the series. It’s so real and occasionally they have really cute references to things that aren’t relevant anymore. A few episodes ago, the one where Jennifer Garner guest stars as Noel’s girlfriend, Noel and Jennifer Garner totally have a Mac and PC conversation. It was cute.

Besides those, some of my all time favorite shows were from the 90s. Friends, Seinfield to name a few. Don’t even get me started on TGIF shows. I haven’t seen them since the 90s, but still. They hold a special place in my heart.

Please tell me I’m not the only one obsessed with 90s TV?!

Guilty Pleasure: Wedding Blogs

When I first got engaged back in February, I started subscribing to various wedding blogs, because that’s just what you do.¬† or something.

My initial idea was to look through millions of pictures and ideas to find inspiration for my own upcoming (5 days!!!!) wedding. While I did get some inspiration, I started to get, well, bored. I’m not someone who’s been planning her wedding for her entire life, nor do I really care beyond a certain point about it. The marriage is what I’m SUPER excited about (and the honeymoon! Details to come), so there were only so many pictures of bouquets that I really wanted to see.

Then, one day, I discovered the voyeuristic pleasure that is “how we met/engagement stories” on Weddingbee.

I know that some people are thinking how sweet and sappy that is, but I have to confess that what I love most are the absolute train wrecks¬†that some of these girls post about! I understand that we all have different stories, and some have bumpier roads than others, but HOLY CRAP, the stuff that people are willing to tell the world, much less experience and stay with each other, constantly blows my mind. Sometimes I just want to yell “DON’T DO IT!”

I won’t single anyone out (because that would be…mean?), but let’s just say that I’ve seen people discuss their mental illnesses, the incarceration of siblings, numerous infidelities… the list goes on and on.

So, today, in honor of my wedding week, I suggest you go through and try to find some of the good ones. If nothing else, it should make you feel better about any issues you and your beloved might have.
